Does your skin itch like crazy? Do you have large red splotches that you want to scratch until you literally start bleeding? Does stress cause skin eruptions that itch and sometimes even ooze? If you suffer symptoms like these, it is likely you have eczema.

Does your baby have blotchy red patches of skin that seem irritated and itchy? This sounds like classic eczema. Eczema in babies and eczema in children is a very common skin disorder that has been linked most directly to heredity. Other common symptoms of eczema traditionally appear on a baby's forehead, cheeks or scalp and look like dry, thickened, and or scaly skin.

Eczema also known as dermatitis is common among babies and children. It is an inflammation in the epidermis causing skin redness, itching, dryness, flaking, blistering, crusting and thickening. It commonly appears on the face, chest, arms, legs and even on the scalp. Seeing your child suffering from itching and painful eczema is hard to bear.

Eczema also known as atopic dermatitis which is a skin condition that will often develop within the first year of life. Eczema in babies is normally located around the forehead, scalp, and cheeks however it is not uncommon for this condition to also exist on the arms, legs, chest and other parts of the body. If your baby's rash is consistent with most cases of eczema in babies it will resemble dry, scaly, thicken skin that may be comprised of small red bumps.

Eczema in children symptoms are redness in the form of blisters that is most often itchy. The redness appears in the face, cheeks, nape, in the circumference of the neck and in the clavicle. It also appears in the extremities. The elbows, fore arms, hands, behind the knees and legs are the sites where you can mostly observe eczema. Crusting, bleeding, lesions, skin discoloration, flaking and blistering are more often associated with eczema symptoms.

If you start to notice symptoms on your child after they eat a certain type of food or use a particular brand of soap, then it is essential that they stay from it. The cause of eczema is still largely unknown but there are external allergens and irritants which have been known to trigger outbreaks. If your child has a severe allergic reaction, then they may need over the counter treatments to counteract it.

Once a child is exposed to irritants and allergens the sensitization process begins. There are normally only one or two actual eczema triggers. These triggers may not cause eczema at first but then slowly exploit a weakness in the skin that is common among eczema sufferers. The trigger damages the skin and eventually the immune system recognizes this as an attack and reacts to prevent the attack.

There are a lot of medicated creams that you could use to treat this condition but they will not be very effective against the itchy feeling. You will need an antihistamine or a steroid for that but most parents are rightfully reluctant to use these medications on their children.
