Home treatment for Toe fracture

By Scot Robinson at 2010-09-13 07:26:13
Pain in the big toe is a common cause of complaint. Its prominent position makes it prone to injury, however pain can be the result of a wide range of causes. Hallus rigidis is a form of osteoarthritis which affects the big toe causing the toe to become stiff, usually at the base. The condition is caused by wear and tear, but can occur at an early age, when excess forces have been placed on the feet over time. Gout is a relatively common hereditary disorder which commonly affects the big toe. It is due to the body's inability to deal with uric acid which creates a high blood concentration, which in turn causes uric acid crystals to form in the joints such as the big toe.

One of the most common causes of big toe pain, and also one of the most easily recognised is a bunion. The condition is usually the result of wearing tight fitting shoes, with high heels exacerbating the problem. Bunion pads fit in the sides of the shoes to cushion the bunion and prevent abrasion and are highly effective in mild cases. If a lack of pain is the problem, and you are losing the sensation in your big toe and your toes are always cold, it could indicate circulatory problem such as occurs in sufferers of Raynaud's disease. Foot pain affects various parts of the foot, from the Achilles tendon at the back of the heal all the way to the tips of the toes. Some pains are only a minor ache or annoyance, while others are the result of injury or certain chronic conditions.

This is generally caused by ill fitting shoes, or by a person walking in a way that their foot flattens out too much as it bears the bodies weight. This inflammation caused by overstretching, or pulling the band of fibrous tissue (a ligament called the plantar fascia) that runs along the bottom of the foot, connects at the bottom of the heel, and extends to the front of the foot. The most common treatment methods focus on reducing the strain on the fascia by supporting it with proper shoes, arch supports, and other support aids. Ice, oral, or injectable, anti-inflammatories, along with limiting activities that cause pain are all viable treatment methods.

This can be hereditary; some people's toenails are C-shaped and turn down, causing the toenail to grow into the skin. This happens when fungi infect one or more toenails. The unsightly and potentially painful discoloration and texture change mentioned above occurs as the infection spreads deeper into the toenail. Podiatrist and foot care specialist constantly harp about the evils of wearing poor fitting shoes. One of the primary causes of foot problems is shoes that either are too tight or poorly designed. This is not to say that Haglund's Deformity do not occur with other types of footwear. Certain other types of footcare can be just as bad, footwear such as boots, cycling shoes, and other shoe types that have extremely deep heel cup shapes. If the cause of Haglund's Deformity is left to continue, the soft tissue will grow and harden on the back of the heel. Bone and calcium grows and the soft tissue will become a hard bump.
